CHICAGO - In a heartfelt message mixing faith, hometown pride, and a call to kindness, Pope Leo XIV reached out to the American people for the first time on Saturday. He sent a warm video message displayed on the giant screen at Guaranteed Rate Field, the home of the Chicago White Sox.
This special event was part of a celebration organized by the Archdiocese of Chicago to honor Leo's recent election, the very first American to become the leader of the Roman Catholic Church in its 2,000-year history. Held at the South Side stadium of his beloved team, it was a personal and meaningful moment for everyone involved.
Addressing young people both in the stadium and watching online, Leo shared a message about resilience, community, and faith, tying his words to the Church’s global Year of Hope during the Jubilee.
