CHICAGO, IL - Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood was stunned Monday afternoon by the sound of gunfire that left five people injured, and prompted urgent demands for answers and continued concerns over public safety in the historic South Side neighborhood. The incident occurred just one day after another mass shooting took place on Chicago’s West Side, which left one dead and five injured.


The shooting took place just after 3:25 p.m. in the 700 block of East 43rd Street, a few paces west of Cottage Grove Avenue. Responding officers found multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds, the scene marked by panic and flashing police lights.
