CHICAGO — What began as a festive night on Chicago’s Southwest Side ended in panic and pain after a gunman opened fire into a crowd gathered for a block party in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.
Just after 11 p.m. Friday, Chicago police responded to reports of multiple people shot near the 4800 block of South Justine Street. According to investigators, two unidentified men approached the group on foot. One of them suddenly pulled out a firearm and began shooting into the unsuspecting crowd before fleeing the scene.
