CHICAGO, IL - Chicago’s West Side was shattered by tragedy in the early hours of Sunday morning when gunfire rang out during a late-night gathering, leaving one woman dead and five others wounded. Police say the shooting happened around 2:48 a.m. in the 100 block of North Lacrosse Avenue, a residential stretch that has seen its share of violence in recent years.
Authorities reported that a 22-year-old woman was struck in the back and pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. Three others remain in critical condition, including an 18-year-old shot in the chest, a 17-year-old struck in the thigh, and a 29-year-old man wounded in the leg. A second 18-year-old sustained a gunshot wound to the hand and was treated at the scene, while a 29-year-old woman shot in the elbow remains hospitalized in good condition.
